The Brides of Barragowan

The sun shone warmly on my back one lovely spring day as I looked across the lake at a folly which had been built on the estate of Lord Byron some 200 years ago. Designed to resemble a castle, it was known simply as Folly Castle. The folly had stood forlorn and neglected for many years until some enterprising person had decided to convert it into several comfortable dwellings. There was something about the place which had stirred my imagination and awakened my sense of romance.

To tell the truth, I had been feeling somewhat depressed as I had been contemplating a rather bleak looking future. I along with several of my contemporaries, had suddenly found myself out of work due to the recession and the never-ending cutbacks. Of course, Jason would support me. But that wasn't the point! I had to do something, anything to keep myself busy or I would lose my mind. Well not absolutely anything....but.... well, you know what I mean!

It was while I was sitting there, in a truly unenviable state of mind, that the first stirrings of 'The Brides of Barragowan' began to  take root in my mind.

Folly Castle was transported to a small island off the coast of Scotland; an island that exists only in my imagination. Gradually the island began to expand in my mind until it was teeming with people, all intent upon their own lives and totally oblivious to me, their creator! As I silently watched and listened, this little island developed and grew to include an ancient castle up on a hill, which had once belonged to the powerful MacKechnie family,  a village on the other side of the lake, a pretty little church, and the harbour where Morag first spotted Jack Dawes and his friend, and then drew them in surprising detail.

Suddenly I knew what I was going to do! I was going to write the story of Barragowan! I was going to write a story of love and discipline. A story which would, of course, include the spanking of the heroines by their loving husbands.

I would not be beaten by the ravages of recession sweeping across the world. I would turn my passion into profit!

The Brides of Barragowan is a new release by Blushing Books

The population of the Isle of Barragowan are honest and God-fearing people, who live their lives according to the scriptures. The man is the head of the home. A wife must respect and submit to her husband in everything. A man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. That is the creed that they live by.

The four MacKechnie brothers are powerful men, in every sense of the word. Their brides come to Barragowan bringing all the baggage of their dysfunctional childhoods with them. These ladies spend a great deal of time being subjected to a bare bottom spanking by their loving husbands who are determined to teach them two things. To submit and to have respect. Respect for others but also for themselves.

But unknown to them, a madman roams the island with one thought on his mind – to claim one of the brides as his own. Which one will he choose? The bride of fire, the bride of ice, the bride of the earth or the bride of the air?
